Paediatric First Aid (EYFS) – Level 3
Meets the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) as published by Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF)
With our paramedic trained tutors you will have the confidence to deal with emergencies; develop skills and provide emergency first aid on children until the emergency services arrive.
This excellent regulated and interactive course is in two parts. Day one consists of the Level 1 Emergency Paediatric First Aid and combined with day 2, this leads to the Level 3 qualification.
Dealing with young children at home; at school; nursery; child minding or at a club? This course is for you. Over two days with our paramedic trained tutors your staff will also make confident assessments and manage situations until the emergency services arrive.
Syllabus:
- Understand the role of paediatric first aider;
- Assess an emergency situation; act safely and effectively.
Provide first aid for an infant and a child who is:
- Unresponsive and breathing normally and abnormally;
- wounded and bleeding;
- Suffering from shock;
- Experiencing the effects of extreme heat and cold.
Know how to provide first aid to an infant and a child who has:
- Sustained an electric shock;
- Been poisoned;
- Been bitten or stung;
- A foreign body airway obstruction.
Provide first aid to an infant and a child with a:
- Suspected fracture and a dislocation;
- Head; neck and back injury;
- Burn or scald.
Provide first aid to an infant and a child with:
- Conditions affecting the eyes, ears and nose;
- A chronic medical condition or sudden illness.
Tailored packages are available which include initial, annual refresher and re-qualification. Training can be provided at your premises, at our training centre, or at a suitable location nearby to you. We are flexible in our approach as training courses can be provided weekdays, weekends or over the course of selected evenings.
Under The Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981, paediatric first aid provision is seen as a course designed as an `additional need` to the requirement to have someone trained in Emergency First Aid or First Aid at Work.
